Steps to be taken in case Material is Released
or Spilled:
Shovel or sweep up and place in waste disposal container. Flush
area with water. Major spills (i.e. derailments) may be loaded
into trucks with front-end loader. Uncontaminated material may
be recycled. If exposed to humid air, material will dissolve.
The brine should be flushed with water to drainage.
Waste disposal Method:
Disposal must be made in accordance with local regulations.
Respiratory Protection: For dusty conditions, particulate
filtering disposable mask is adequate.
Ventilation: None
Protective Gloves: Required
Eye Protection: Safety glasses are required
Other protective equipment: Not required.
Precautions to be taken in handling and storing:
When removing Magnesium chloride from its packing, the product
at first appears dry. Due to its hygroscopic nature, it readily
takes on atmospheric moisture and softens rapidly. The bagged
material should be kept closed in a dry atmosphere. When stored
under suitable conditions, Magnesium Chloride will keep for an
almost unlimited period.
If handled according to instructions, no danger
to humans.
