How to apply Calso98
- Grade and restore crown in early spring when
road surface is still moist. One pass with a water truck is
recommended to ensure surface is wet.
- Uniformly apply Calso98 at a rate of 1.5-2.0
lbs./yd². Calso98 users apply it with various spreaders
including spinner disk, tailgate and drill type.
- Lightly re-wet surface and allow traffic to travel
over road.

Calso98 for Snow and Ice Control
is an amalgamate
of performance chlorides, and is offered only in an anhydrous
flake form. Not made by simply dry blending the individual chemical
components, Calso98 begins as a molten chemical by-product of
magnesium metal production; a process that delivers it as a single
crystal containing at least 98% active chlorides. That makes Calso98
the most concentrated chloride based deicer available in the market
today – hands down.
When you mix a few ounces of Calso98 with a cup
of water, the cup will get so hot you cannot hold it. That’s
because of the extreme heat of dilution Calso98 generates due
to its highly concentrated form, and that’s also one of the
properties that make Calso98 an ideal additive to less costly
lower performance products like potash and rock salt.
Calso98 is ideally suited for mixing with rock salt
to dramatically enhance the performance of the rock salt. Additionally,
it makes a great catalyst for packaged deicer blends due to the
beneficial properties of it’s composition.
